Journey into the PastThe Mornington Railway runs five return services between Moorooduc and Mornington on the first three Sundays of each month, as well as two public holidays.
Both children and adults enjoy the magic of the Mornington Peninsula steam train experience which runs between Moorooduc and Mornington.
Riding in restored heritage carriages, which are hauled by vintage steam locomotive K163 always brings smiles and wonderment to the faces of the many children who ride on this railway.
It is a unique experience for the children and a journey back into the past for adults.
The Mornington Railway has been working on a new product for some time, Driver Experience.
The Diesel Driver Experience course allows a guest to live childhood dreams of driving a locomotive.
No previous railway knowledge or experience is required as the basics of driving a mainline diesel locomotive are taught by a select group of experienced drivers.
The guest driver may invite a limited number of family members friends to ride on the train for the day with one of our friendly conductors.
Lunch can be provided for the family friends of the guest driver at an additional cost.
Also included in the package is a 12 month membership of the Mornington Railway Preservation Society subject to approval .
To book, customers just have to call 1300 767 274, and arrangements will be made for completion of the formal application, payment, booking of the train and organisation of volunteers for the day.
