A MAKE MEMORIES TO TREASURE AT ASHCOMBE MAZE The Ashcombe Hedge Maze, Australia s most famous and popular traditional hedge maze was planted in the 1970 s with more than 1000 Cypress plants and each year the hedge gets a bit bigger and the paths gets a bit narrower Ashcombe has something to delight all generations.
Adults with fond recollections are returning as parents with young children and ageing parents to recreate thosetreasured childhood memories and do not leave disappointed.
Mazey Mike still resides at Ashcombe Maze looking after the gardens, with new gnome fairy friends visiting each semester for children adults alike delighting if they look carefully in finding them sleeping in the trees gardens during the daytime.
Admission to the gardens includes a clipboard and pencil with an answer sheet to fill in the names of the gnomes fairies spotted in the gardens.
The children and adults who try the hardest receive a lolly and a stamp for theirefforts...and at the same time they have a lot of fun exploring the gardens.
The Caf is still cosy but vastly improved.
Ashcombe s new chef has created the menu with a selection of the most popular dishes still remaining but with a newflair.
All products are homemade and the Chef adds flavour to the dishes that are produced from the small culinary garden at Ashcombe.
The Breakfast menu has a great selection from a simple serving of raisin toastaccompanied by freshly brewed tea or coffee, to the Ashcombe Big Breaky and will be served daily to the general public from 7.30 until 10.30am.
The fully licensed Maze Caf has always been the perfect ending to a great adventure - aftergetting lost in the mazes or wandering the gardens - offering as it still does light lunches and delicious morning and afternoon teas, the famous Ashcombe Lavender Ice-cream and the new lavender and strawberry jam.
Take a Closer Look at the Mazes The North Maze is a totally different layout to the South Maze, so any tricksyou worked out while making your way through the first part, mean absolutely nothing in the other The Rose Maze is the oldest circular Rose Maze in the world - planted with more than 1200 bushes 217 different varieties chosen for their colour perfume.
The object of a Circular Maze is to try and find your way into the Central Arbour.
It is actually a lot harder than it looks.
And of course, onceyou get into the Centre you have to remember how you go there and see if you canget out Of course if you take a little while to get through the maze, at least youhave time to stop and smell the roses - the fragrance is truly beautiful.
The Lavender Labyrinth is part of 3000 square metres of garden set on therolling hillside overlooking the incredibly picturesque Ashcombe Arboretum.
The 4000 lavender plants have been used to create the winding paths of the lavenderlabyrinth leading to a viewing platform floating above the lavender.
Careful plantselection and garden design ensures a garden that has lavender in flower for twelve months of the year.
Just opened is the Japanese themed garden with new ponds, bridges and pathssure to delight young and old.
Ashcombe Maze showcases the true beauty of trees plants, particularly in theSummer season, watch the children frolic on the lawns - a fantastic day out for thekids, big small alike.
