Winter Wine Mornington PeninsulaInternational Pinot Noir Celebration 6 - 7 February 2015 held biennially The 7th Mornington Peninsula InternationalPinot Noir Celebration is taking place on the6th and 7th February 2014.
Since its inceptionin 2003, over 1100 wines have been shared with more than 1100 pinot lovers.
In the past11 years, we have tasted some of the world s greatest pinots noir from far and wide, withsome of the world s greatest wine critics, makers and lovers.
International highlights have included Aubert de Villaine and 6 of his wines from Domaine de la Roman e-Conte in 2007, Jancis Robinson s wit and wisdom in 2009, talks verging on religious fervour from Matt Kramer in 2005and Ted Lemon in 2013.
Pinot noir fuelled not only great discussion and enthusiasm, but alsothe unforgettable impromptu cricket match rustled up in 2013 by Jasper Morris MW and James Halliday at Point Nepean.
At past Celebrations, Pinot Noir from manycorners of the earth have come together toparty with Mornington Peninsula Pinots.
In2015, Mornington Peninsula Vignerons will be bringing it all back home, focussing on thesoil, aspect, climate and nuances of site thatcome together to create the infinite variety thatis great pinot noir.
Our keynote speaker Tim Atkin MW will help to guide us through the two days, with his own take on the conceptof terroir, and the line up of wines and people in 2015 will not disappoint.
In 2015, theMornington Peninsula International Pinot NoirCelebration will focus on the maturation and evolution of Australian Pinot Noir in all its glory, and on a world stage.
Chairman of the 2015 Celebration, Kate McIntyre MW remarks The Mornington Peninsula has worked hard over many years to develop an understandingof the nuances of pinots noir from this region and to communicate them to pinot lovers.
In 2015, the Celebration is all aboutcontextualising the Mornington Peninsula s Pinots, within the framework of Australian Pinot Noir in comparison to the rest of the New World New Zealand, USA, Canada, Chile, Argentina and, of course always, benchmarking to the best of Burgundy.
Join us for this Celebration, as we sink ourfingers into the soil, feel the difference of climate as offered by altitude vs longitude, maritime vs continental and try to taste inthe glass, what it is in a site that allows us toproduce delicious and unique pinot noir .
