TYABB - A TREASURE TROVE OF ART ANTIQUES CREAM Four Decades of Australian Art 10 May 2014 - 03 August A Rockhampton Art Gallery Travelling Exhibition Cream Four Decades of Australian Art chronicles the development of modernismin Australia from 1940 to 1980.
From Grace Cossington Smith s, Drapery in the studio 1940 throughto William Robinson s Four cows, one bulling 1980, this exhibitionshowcases the stylistic diversity ofmodernism in Australian art.
Drawn from Rockhampton Art Gallery s remarkable collection, Cream explores the post-SecondWorld War art centres of Melbourne and Sydney, but also presents Brisbane as an alternative city toexplore new ideas in modern art.
Artists include Sidney Nolan, JohnPerceval, Arthur Boyd, Charles Blackman, Margaret Olley, Fred Williams, John Brack, Lloyd Rees, Jon Molvig and Russell Drysdale.
The exhibition recognises thecontribution of the Australia Council and also celebrates former MayorRex Pilbeam and the people ofRockhampton, whose support of theGallery has built one of regionalAustralia s most enviable collections.
WAVES WATER Australian Beach Photography10 May 2014 - 03 August 2014 Iconic photographs from the Australian National Maritime Museum s collection capture Australian beach culture from the 1930s to today.
Waves Water includes the work of seven of Australia s celebrated beach photographers, including MaxDupain s iconic Sunbaker 1937, Ray Leighton s surfers posed with photographs, taken as an individualcatches a wave or dives into the ocean.
More recent works by Anne Zahalka explore ideas of Australian cultural identity and sterotypes.
Narelle Autio also provides a different perspective of the ocean swimmer photographedfrom beneath the surface of the waves whilst Ian Lever renders the beautyand atmosphere of Sydney s ocean pools at dawn and dusk.
This exhibition is supported by theNational Collecting InstitutionsTouring and Outreach Program, an Australian Government programaiming to improve access to thenational collections for all Australians.

The Peninsula Wood turners Guild, The Spinners and Weavers, the McClelland Guild of Artists and the Frankston Peninsula Lapidary Club will hostdemonstrations children s activities.
There will be artworks for sale as well as a sausage sizzle andcold drinks to purchase.

The McClelland Gallery wasestablished in 1971 under the terms of the Will of Annie May Nan McClelland in honour of her brother Harry McClelland, an artist andphilanthropist who owned the propertyand played an instrumental role in thedevelopment of the arts communityin Victoria.
Harry s studio is still to be found in the grounds of theMcClelland Gallery Sculpture Park, which apart from the gallery complex, houses the community art groups ofthe McClelland Guild of Artists, the McClelland Spinners Weavers, The Peninsula Woodturners Guild the Frankston Peninsula Lapidary Club.
