New meets old

While the Peninsula's newest winery may just have opened on the wine lover's trail, its surrounding vineyard is actually one of the area's oldest.

Myrtaceae was originally planted in 1985 with further plantings completed in 1998. This makes it one of the few vineyards completing its second decade on the Peninsula.

The quality of the grapes and therefore wines,is well known to reflect the age of the vines, and this factor combined with continually improved viticulture is seeing wines that are being well received and enjoyable.

While the gardens are still a work in progress on two sides of the winery, the other sides see the building nestle into existing areas of a recreated rainforest area and extensive native garden beds. A new lawn, hedges and rose beds are connecting older gardens with the new.

The interior is complete and ready to welcome visitors with an ambience to pleasantly enjoy the fruits of this older vineyard. The owners,John and Julie Trueman, specialise in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Some older Cabernet is still available.
