THE TOWNSHIPS

MERRICKS NORTH

One of the Peninsula's most beautiful rural districts, famed for its thoroughbred horse and cattle studs and, more recently, a sprinkling of wineries.

A brief gold rush in 1851 sparked early interest in the Merricks North area. However its subsequent history has been more steady and based around farming industries, including apple and pear orchards. The Barn Country Crafts now occupies the district's main coolstore.
