FRANKSTON
Frankston enjoys the best of both worlds – the CBD is an hour away by train, while the recreational heart of the Peninsula is just 20 minutes down the road. Oliver’s Hill is the scenic high point providing views over the Bay and to the Dandenong Ranges. Named after a fisherman, James Oliver, who watched for schools of fish from its high points, it became the location of many salubrious holiday homes from the late 1800’s. Frankston has one of the largest retail areas in suburban Melbourne while the $20m Arts Centre and the recently renovated McClelland Gallery adds some cultural distinction. The wide and continuous stretch of clean sand, plus two of Melbourne’s leading golf courses are further highlights. |
