Rerely will anyone find around 50 Mornington Peninsula producers in one spot at any one time! But at the launch of the annual Winter Wine Weekend the vignerons of the Mornington Peninsula celebrate the June Queen’s Birthday long weekend together, a feature on the Mornington Peninsula event calendar. Many well known producers come together and launch the Weekend at one venue, all undercover – as they have done since 1988!

All Weekend

This year 49 Peninsula wineries are throwing open cellar doors and pulling bungs on barrels to showcase the diversity of this renowned wine region, right on Melbourne’s doorstep just an hour’s drive away. A plethora of food and wine opportunities with live music, crackling fires and a festive atmosphere at Cellar Doors around the region. As usual, new release wines, new labels, and a great range of experiences is offered. Simply warm up your body and satisfy your soul throughout the long weekend with fine Mornington Peninsula wine.

The full festivities at the participating individual wineries are detailed at www.mpva.com.au.

Saturday, June 11

The launch event is the Winter Wine Fest (Saturday 11 June, 11am – 4pm Red Hill Showgrounds, Mel Ref 190 J3 ) which traditionally marks the beginning of the Winter Wine Weekend program. More serious wine lovers can enrol in one (or all) of the tutored mini tasting seminars that will be held throughout the Winter Wine Fest day with key winemakers. It’s a great way to learn more about the Peninsula’s benchmark wine varieties, growing techniques and their impact on flavour and wine styles. Tutored Tastings will be offered during the day.

Fine wine, hearty food and live music will create a day to remember!
